We designed the Sabbra Cadabra to give players that sonic experience, re-contextualized for today’s approach where players tend to use amps solely within their clean range at more mortal volume levels.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Sabbra Cadabra is a custom-tuned Rangemaster-based booster combined with the preamp section of a Laney Supergroup. The two circuits are carefully voiced together to achieve the riffs of doom tone that Tony Iommi is so well known for. Four controls (RANGE, GAIN, PRESENCE, and VOL 4) allow you to fine-tune the response to your guitar and rig. If you;re familiar with Sabbath;s live album, \"Past Lives\", then you'll understand where we were going with this pedal  - huge, raw, responsive! The Sabbra Cadabra's circuit is optimized for drop-tuning but works equally well for standard tuning thanks to the RANGE control, which allows you to \"customize\" the treble-booster section of the circuit and adjust it anywhere from treble-boost to full-range boost.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccording to Mr. Iommi, someone modded his Dallas Rangemaster. \"I don't know what he did to it, but it was really good. I used that treble booster on all the early Sabbath albums and put it into the Laney because it boosted the input and gave it the overdrive I was looking for, which amps in the early days didn't have.\" Then in 1979 another tech threw it into the garbage, thinking it was crap. Can you believe that?! So no one really knows what was done to it. But based on our experience, it was most likely changing it to be more of a full-range boost and possibly re-biasing it. Part of its magic, and how it differs from the internal spring reverb found in most Fender-style amps, is that it is run *in front* of the amp, causing the reverb signal to distort and get more intense than the internal circuit could. However, the good folks at EarthQuaker Devices, in collaboration with the newly-resurrected Park Amplification, have faithfully recreated the Park Fuzz Sound so that a new generation may enjoy it.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhile the original deployed the aforementioned mystery cans, the new Park Fuzz Sound uses a different set of NOS germanium transistors, hand-selected for a tonal match. Indeed, when A\/B’d with the original unit, the sounds were strikingly similar. In fact, the staff at PGS was split right down the middle as to which was which. What’s more, when doing the test, we had to set the new Park Fuzz Sound’s Fuzz control at about half, whereas the original was dimed. The reissue has way more range in the Fuzz dial than the original.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAnother bugaboo of original fuzz pedals is the powering situation; in the case of the original Park, it’s powered by a battery only but changing it out required using a lever to pry open the lid. While that’s a hassle, using batteries is kind of a hassle in and of itself. However, this and many older fuzz pedals are positive-ground; the common workaround is reversing the lugs on the power jack internally, but this configuration means that the pedal cannot be daisy-chained.
